- 5 Proven Strategies to Beat Overwhelm and Take Control of Your Life
How to Beat Overwhelm Feeling overwhelmed? Welcome to the club! Feeling regularly overwhelmed is something most people struggle with, and it can negatively impact your quality of life. Over the years, I've helped my clients regain their sanity, organization, and boundaries to beat the constant feelings of overwhelm. Here are my top 5 tips to beat overwhelm that have worked for my clients for YEARS! 1. Stop speaking it into existence! Watch your words. Instead of saying things like "I am so overwhelmed," say, "I got this!" Remember, the words you speak are creating your future reality. The more you talk about and focus on being overwhelmed, the less in control you’ll feel, and the more life will throw at you to exacerbate that feeling. It becomes an endless cycle. So, to break the cycle, start speaking into existence the new reality you wish to create, one where you feel calm, in control, and efficient. Here are some affirmations to help you do that... 2. Use affirmations to break the cycle. Every day, tell yourself these things, and repeat them several times while taking three deep breaths during moments when you feel overwhelmed. - I am capable. - I am able to get things done quickly and efficiently. - I no longer take on more than I can handle. - I know my limits, my capabilities, and strengths. I plan accordingly. - I am focused and organized. - I get shit done! - I am getting ___________ off my plate now! - I am proud of how far I’ve come. I’m getting better at this! - I am calm and in control of my emotions. - I am controlling what’s within my power and letting the rest GO! - I can do this! 3. Set yourself up for success. Keeping your daily task goals manageable is key. Make a master list of all the things you’re working on and what needs to get done to help you see the big picture and stay organized. Keep it handy, but every morning, write down just 3 things you KNOW you can accomplish today. Keeping that daily list small is the key. We want to create a culture of WINNING that encourages us to stay focused and accomplish what needs to be done. Keep it simple and keep your promise to yourself to get those 3 things checked off no matter what. This will build your confidence in your ability to follow through and achieve your goals. 4. Clean up your plate! Start saying no to things you know you can't commit to or deliver on time. If your plate is full, it's full. Period. Stop saying yes to everything! Stop volunteering for things you don’t need to raise your hand for. Understanding your current obligation load and managing your time is key. This will help you avoid taking on more than you can deliver and get things off your plate that you don’t NEED to be committed to. Simplify wherever possible. Just because you've always done something or forced a task or activity into your schedule doesn’t mean it’s healthy for you to continue doing it. Reevaluate your priorities and focus on those exclusively until you have realistic openings on your plate. 5. Calm your mind. Meditation is key to a healthy, calm mind and a fulfilled life. Its benefits have been proven for decades (or longer). Start using a tool that has been PROVEN to work for some of the most successful people on the planet (LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Oprah, etc.). It’s one of the best ways to combat mental overload and overwhelm. Commit to doing a 10-minute meditation every day—it’s simple and easy. Pick a guided meditation for any topic that fits how you’re feeling that day. There are ones for calming your mind, healing, energy cleansing (my favorite), abundance, and much more. When you start your day in a place of calm, gratitude, and by saying your affirmations, you’re setting yourself up for success. If you found this post helpful, please share! - Tips for Handling Adversity and Overcoming Obstacles
Tips for Handling Adversity. How to positively handle adversity and overcome obstacles. This morning I did Live coaching in my Facebook group about how to get through adversity and I thought I'd share a few tips with you as well. Hopefully, you are NOT facing any setbacks or obstacles right now, but in case you are these might help. I've certainly faced my share of all the above on my quest to create my dream life and I've learned from each one. Though it's never easy to go through difficult times, there are ways you can make it easier and less of a setback, and over time, you can make them less frequent as well by learning from the past and making new decisions moving forward. Here are a few of my tips for handling adversity and how to move through the hard times as quickly as possible. How to positively handle adversity: Get some perspective. This is the first thing I try to do when I'm really going through a tough time or have just experienced a setback. I ask myself: "Is this gonna kill me? Can I survive it? Will I even remember facing it a year from now?" These questions help me remember that all adversity is temporary, and keeps me from making permanent decisions based on a temporary setback. How badly do I want it? This is a great time to get re-focused on why I'm doing it in the first place. What is my dream? Why does it matter? Why do I want it? What will it feel like when I'm living it? All those questions get me back on track and help me start focusing on what I want, instead of dwelling on the current situation. Get that end-vision CLEAR! Take accountability. This is a great time to ask yourself some tough questions, like "Did I manifest this?" What was I doing, thinking and saying previously that could have brought this into my life?" "What actions did I take, or choices did I make that got me to this point?" This is hard to do I know, but trust me it will help you steer clear of playing the victim, which is never productive. What's the lesson? I always use tough times to search for the lesson. What is this experience trying to teach me? What is it preparing me for? What should I be learning now, so that I can be more prepared for my next breakthrough? I've learned that almost always, the tough times are getting us ready for our next level of success. Do one small thing. Sometimes when we've faced a tough disappointment it's hard to "get back on the horse." We want to just quit, and so we stop doing the things we know we must do to reach our goals. Fight this by doing just one small thing each day for a few days. The last thing you want is momentum to come to a halt and you need the energy to shift back in your favor, so keep moving forward, one small step at a time. The more you learn from these situations the better you will be at navigating and avoiding them in the future. Of course, we can't control everything in life, and these moments are not entirely avoidable, that's just life, BUT we do have far more control over them than we may believe. I believe that our thoughts predict our words, and our words predict our actions and those actions deliver results, so... if you don't like your results, or if you've repeated a pattern that gives you outcomes you dislike, it's time to change the root cause. Negative thoughts produce negative outcomes. Thoughts of doubt and fear produce the feared result. Thoughts of lack, manifest more lack. Thoughts of unworthiness produce low self-confidence and self-sabotaging behavior. Do an inventory of your thoughts over the past year or two and ask yourself, is what I'm going through related to what I've been thinking? 3 Easy Ways to Travel for FREE! Wanna travel for FREE? Who wouldn't right? People often ask me how I'm able to travel so much with my 3 children, especially internationally, as a single mom. It's not because I'm sponsored by travel companies (I am not), or because I'm an author (I traveled for free long before that), it's because I've been doing these 3 simple things for the past 10 years. This is how I’ve manifested MANY free trips for myself and my kids over the years. And BTW...All of this applies whether you travel rarely or are a true frequent traveler, implement these tips TODAY and you'll start vacationing for free before you know it! 1. FREE FLIGHTS: The golden rule when it comes to flying is: NEVER GET ON A PLANE WITHOUT COLLECTING MILES WITH THAT AIRLINE!!! NEVER! MOST MILES DON'T EXPIRE. Most airlines don’t have expiration dates on their miles and if they do, you can usually just call them to ask for an extension. I did this just the other day with my preferred airline Alaska , and they extended all three of my kid's accounts for 2 years, and they don't have a limit on the number of extensions. There is NO EXCUSE not to be collecting miles with the airline, every single time you fly. This is true even if you’re getting miles through a credit card, why wouldn’t you want miles from both the airline and card!? Common sense people! BE LOYAL IT PAYS. Pick an airline that services your airport for most flights and be loyal to it (and its partners). Don’t try to save the $50 by going with a cheaper ticket on a different airline. BOOK ON A PARTNER AIRLINE. All the major airlines have many domestic and international partner airlines, know which ones your airline partners with and ONLY book flights with your preferred airline or one of these partners. Your upgrade perks might not apply on partner flights but at least you'll be getting miles, every time you fly. GET THE FAMILY THEIR OWN ACCOUNTS . Make sure that every member of your family has their own mileage plan number and is collecting miles on EVERY flight. Kids as young as 2 can have a mileage plan account. You don’t have to be a frequent flyer for this to pay off quickly. I’ve earned several free trips for my entire family this way. You can always consolidate their miles into your account for free flights too. GET CREDIT FOR PAST FLIGHTS. Most airlines will let you register past flights if they were taken in the last year, so go through your records and submit those reservation numbers to get credit for past flights. Those are free miles just sitting there! IT DOESN'T TAKE A LOT OF MILES TO GET FREE FLIGHTS. Alaska Air offers free flights starting at just 12,000 miles, and essentially 2 cross-country trips earn you a free flight (remember those can be over the course of several years too). You can also use your miles to discount the cost of a purchased ticket as much as 50%. When you're an Alaska MVP you earn 1.5 miles for every mile flown, so those add up quickly. MILAGE PLANS ARE FREE . They are free to join, take just a few minutes and every airline offers them on their website, there’s no excuse! Plus if your past flights were on several airlines you can sign up for plans with each airline to capture those miles. I do this with United, though they are not my preferred, sometimes I have to fly them or one of their partners so I keep an account with them too, so I'm never flying without collecting. GET THE AIRLINES CREDIT CARD. When you sign up, most airlines will give you a free companion fair just for signing up, plus they give bonus miles for everything you put on the card and even bigger bonuses when you buy flights with them. So you could be earning 3x the miles for each flight. BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICES. When you are loyal to the airline they treat you WAY BETTER than a "regular customer." And the higher your tier status the more VIP treatment you get from all airline staff. They are much more likely to give you perks, know your name, give flight credits, waive fees, and more, once they see you are a loyal member. Also, Alaska provides a privet 800 customer service number for MVPs where a real person answers on the 2nd ring and takes care of everything for you! FREE FIRST-CLASS UPGRADES! Did I mention the FREE FIRST-CLASS?! Because I've been a loyal flyer for several years I've earned dozens of FREE first-class upgrades on Alaska. I have actually never paid for a first-class flight and these days I pretty much only fly first-class (I also negotiate this into all my speaking deals). If you fly 24,000 a year with Alaska you'll be an MVP (check this with your airline as their stuff does change year to year) and that will automatically put you on the upgrade list for all flights the following year. Now you might not always get it, but you will get a cabin upgrade and free drinks even if you're not in first class! BONUS: When you reach their Gold status you get 4 FREE first-class upgrades to give to family or friends to be used over that year (I earned this a few years back, check their site to see if it's still the same level). FREE BAGGAGE! As a member, many airlines waive the bag fee for checked luggage, which can save you $100 on a round-trip flight. 2. FREE HOTELS: SIGN UP FOR REWARDS . Most hotel chains offer rewards programs, including all the major chains, such as Hilton, Marriott, and Westin. GET DOUBLE REWARDS. I book hotels through Expedia so I can accumulate Expedia travel points (which gives me a $ discount on bookings on their site), and then I use my hotel reward number at check-in, to collect points with the hotel chain. Some chains will also take your frequent flyer (mileage) number and give you airline points too! Also, Expedia has great customer service and has taken care of me since I started booking with them in 1999, so it gives me peace of mind even when traveling internationally. *Note: do check with the hotel directly before booking to ensure that you don't have to book on their site to get rewards points, I have run into that once before. GET CREDIT FOR PAST STAYS. Same as with flights, you can submit past reservations from the last year to get credit on your account (I’ve done this with Hilton, Westin, and Marriott) for past stays. BETTER SERVICE. As with airlines, you’ll notice the service will be WAY BETTER and you’ll be treated like a VIP as a rewards member. I've had hotels leave handwritten notes and fruit baskets in my room and even champ (and not it's not because I'm a public person). 3. FREE CAR RENTAL: IT PAYS TO BE LOYAL! I personally love Enterprise , they always hook me up with free car upgrades or wave my gas, or other perks because I’ve been a loyal member for so long. I’ve earned countless free rental days and often get upgraded to luxury cars at little or no upgrade charge. SAVING A FEW BUCKS ISN'T WORTH IT. I've tried renting from many other car rental companies because they may have been $10 cheaper, but the hassle is not worth it. Not only do you not earn points when you do that, but you'll also not get the customer service you are used to or the perks and you'll always kick yourself, at least I have. So... this is what I do. I save all these accumulated points from flights, hotel, and car rental until I have enough to take a trip with my kids. This means that part or all of our domestic vacations are FREE! I've taken my kids to Washington DC, Los Angeles, and New York City twice this way. That's a family of four, traveling for next to nothing! Just as an example, I took my son to Universal Studios a few years back and both our flights were free, including both our FIRST CLASS UPGRADES, our red sports car rental was free as was our 2-night stay at the Westin. I basically only paid for park tickets and food on that trip! Remember you don't have to travel a lot for this to work, save up those points, and call to extend so they don't expire. If you travel for work, make sure ALL THAT TRAVEL COLLECTS POINTS on all the above. It adds up people! All this is within your power to control, so start receiving what’s yours! *PS. Here are just a few of the amazing once-in-a-lifetime experiences, lifelong goals, big dreams, expanding business, personal achievements, and more that manifested in 2021 straight off my Pinterest #futureboards. #1: My son Kanen Rossi manifesting his ultimate dream of playing football at the University of Oregon. This is something he put on his Futureboard™ in 7th grade and a dream the two of us have shared since he was six years old! Watch a video of his story HERE . #2: My 3rd Book Deal!! In July of 2021 I signed my 3rd book deal, to be released fall 2022. It's called All The Things I Wish I Knew, How to be a Fierce Chick Living her Best Life. It shares my personal life lessons and those I've learned through coaching thousands of women over the past decade. It's everything from the important stuff, like how to change your mindset and when to leave a unhealthy relationship, to the silly. #3: Building My Dream Team This has been a dream five years in the making. I started my coaching company as a solo-preneur in 2017 with no experience, and no idea what I was doing. It was HARD to build a company on my own, and I've longed for a team to help me take the vision to the next level. In August of 2021 my 14 year-old daughters and I took the girls trip of a lifetime! We started in Rome, then went to Amalfi (a 20+ year dream for me) and finished in Tuscany. It was incredible. The pictures from my Pinterest Futureboard™ were under my Relationships section, and look how accurately they manifested! #6 Cooking and Bonding with Like Minded Women I've had this on several Futureboards™ for about five years, I wanted to have more like-minded boss women in my life that I could cook with, hang-out with and learn from. This moment came to life in a big way in Dallas TX this year, with the amazing women (and one guy) on my new team, all people I admire and learn from! #7: My Son Graduating with Honors and Receiving a Full-ride Academic Scholarship! As a single mom I fight against all kinds of negative stereotypes all the time, and my kids have to as well. One big one is that single mom's don't spend time with their kids or help them with homework or invest in their education. So when my son graduated in May with honors AND received a full academic scholarship to the University of Oregon, it was a very proud manifest moment! #8: Small Group Workshops This year another big dream manifested, getting women together in small, intimate settings to learn, cook, laugh, drink and bond together. I did my first one in San Antonio in December and planned my first Italy retreat for July 2022. I will be doing more of these little one day workshops this year, so fun! 9-10: ITALY! August 2021 Here are just a few of my many once-in-a-lifetime moments manifested in Italy this past summer. After going through my Pinterest boards and physical boards from the past few years, I found nearly a dozen, almost exact, manifestations from that trip alone! Okay, if you've been paying attention then you know I DO NOT teach vision boards, nor do I teach Law of Attraction, I teach my own Centrella Method ™ . One I have been proving for over a decade, WORKS! It has changed my life ten times over and continues to change the lives of people around the world who are also practicing this method. My method has been proven and tested repeatedly since 2009 and works for up-leveling every aspect of your life, as well as helping you manifest specific goals and dreams. It is based on the core concept of building a balanced life, one based on your personal happiness. Let me be CLEAR, it is NOT about manifesting a dollar amount of money, or the next job, or a nice pair of shoes. It's about upgrading EVERY ASPECT OF YOURSELF, AND YOUR LIFE. And that's what you see in my manifestations from last year, every aspect of life, up-leveling. 2021 was one of those huge life up-leveling years for my family, one that brought about massive change in almost every area. One where the hustle, belief, and desire established in previous years, cashes in all at once. Those years are so much fun! But they DO NOT happen by magic or random luck. They were carefully and intentionally crafted in the previous months and years. Long before you see me live a dream on Instagram, I've been applying all the steps in my Centrella Method to create it from scratch. I cannot stress this enough, these types of results are NOT unique to me, if you want them, you can have them. - The Mind Lab: How Thoughts Become Beliefs
Chapter 2 Excerpt from The Mind Lab by Sarah Centrella Here's How Thoughts Become Beliefs Let’s back up and talk about the origin of our deepest, most common negative thoughts, our subconscious beliefs. It took me a long time to understand the concept and process of embedded beliefs and why they play such a critical role in how we’ve manifested our current reality. The tricky thing about these beliefs is that you’re most likely not even aware they exist! Talk about annoying. And what’s worse, they are often the opposite of what we think we believe. In other words, they are tricky little fuckers! There is nothing worse than working your tail off to get a result, when all the while your subconscious does not believe that result is even possible. When this happens you will always manifest the result that aligns with the belief, and not the effort. And let me tell you from a lot of personal experience… THAT SUCKS. It’s so important that we align our beliefs with our actions, so they are both pointing in the same direction. When they are in sync, we get our desired result. When they are in conflict, or going in opposing directions, all the effort in the world won’t deliver our ultimate desired result. What happens when our beliefs and actions are in conflict? EXAMPLE: I learn best through examples, so you’ll get lots of them throughout this book. All my life I told myself that no matter what I did, I would never lose weight. This proved itself true, on loop. I’d hire a trainer, a nutritionist, I’d starve myself, I’d go on Atkins, I’d run a marathon, I’d do Keto… and I never lost any measurable weight. I told myself this story every time I tried something new, and every time I quit it, and the outcome always matched my belief, regardless of my considerable efforts. Until one day a few years ago when I heard myself say it. I mean, I really HEARD it. I was like, “Hold up! You KNOW the power of your words; you coach this stuff! Why are you still saying this?” That belief was so deeply embedded that I’d convinced myself it was a simple fact. For me, it was a fact. I’d proven the belief correct so many times, that it baffled every professional I hired! So, that day I started using Mental Tennis and Power Mottos (you’ll learn them soon) to change the belief. I started by saying, “The weight just falls off! I can’t believe it was so easy! My body responds so quickly to the work I put in.” And… no lie, the weight began to fall off. I lost 25 pounds over the next year by walking 20 minutes a day and saying my mottos. That btw was WAY easier than training for 8-months to run a marathon, just sayin’. My belief was headed in one direction and my effort and desire were headed the other way. The two were in conflict, so it was impossible to get my desired result until I lined them both up in the direction of my desire. In other words, I told myself the outcomes I WANTED on repeat, every single day until I believed them. AKA I changed my thoughts from, “I can’t lose weight.” To, “I can lose weight.” And repeated it so often that soon my brain was replacing the old belief with the new, once the new one took root, the results began to match. I was doing my walk and telling myself the whole time that my body was responding quickly. For the first time in my life, the effort and belief were working together , instead of against each other, so the results followed. How Beliefs Work The foundation for our beliefs begins when we are very young, they are comprised of what we hear and see in our environment, the media, and from those around us, among other things. And as we grow, they become solidified by the voice in our head repeating things we’ve seen and heard, and then we unconsciously internalize all those voices, turning them into personal labels, our identity, and descriptions of who we are. EXAMPLE: Let’s start with a simplistic example. Imagine that when you were five years old, you heard your parent tell you and everyone you knew, that you were clumsy because you tripped on your shoelace a few times. To them, this is no big deal, and it may not have even registered with you, but a few years later when your middle school basketball coach sees you trip off the bus, he calls you clumsy and everyone laughs, people at school start calling you the klutz. And soon you’ve created the self-identity that you’re clumsy and bound to embarrass yourself in some horrific way at any moment. You now believe this is something you have no control over, it just is what it is, you’re clumsy. This belief is played repeatedly in your head (repetitive thoughts) in all kinds of situations where you fear a greater potential for embarrassment. Those thoughts say things like, you’re too clumsy to dance , you’ll trip and fall or stomp on your partner's toes , so you don’t dance at prom. Later, you’re afraid to eat on a date because you’re clumsy. You tell people you’re a klutz in hopes they won’t mock you too much if you make a huge fool of yourself. And on the cycle goes throughout your life, impacting your decisions, your actions, and shaping your identity. This example is simplistic I know, but what happens when your parent, sibling, teacher, or some other influence in your young life tells you that you’re worthless, stupid, bad with money, a mess, unlovable, do don’t deserve something you want, you’re ugly or fat, told you to shut up and be quiet? You know what that’s like, because we were all told things like this growing up, by someone. And don’t worry, this isn’t a blame game, but I do what you to understand the origin of how beliefs get so imbedded into our subconscious that they become the driving force behind how we operate, they impact our decisions, and our actions, and in many cases become our very identity. A slow transformation takes place over time, that can turn someone’s off-handed comment (or mean-spirited one) into our identity. It happens slowly through our process of absorbing and internalizing what was said, in other words, by us thinking about it. The more we mull it over, wonder if it’s true or not, obsess over it, or generally give it energy, the more it sticks. Now remember, for most people all of this is happening without their conscious involvement or understanding of the long-term consequences. It’s essentially a little script (or internal conversation) running soundlessly in the background of our minds. As this idea begins to settle in (we stop actively rejecting it), our brain starts looking for more examples to prove our new belief correct. That’s how the kid who thinks they are clumsy, will trip on the dancefloor at prom. The beliefs become the reality. It’s intense, I know. But don’t worry, we can’t do anything about all the things we’ve heard, been exposed to, were told, or observed throughout our lifetime, that is the past, and we can’t change it. So, we give it grace. The best news of all is that what you’ll learn in this book will help you identify and change those beliefs that aren’t serving you and teach you how to create new ones that absolutely will. Think of our beliefs as the root system of a giant oak tree. Without the roots, the tree can’t stand. Healthy roots mean a healthy tree. Our beliefs are holding up the whole operation, they are driving our thoughts, which fuel our actions and deliver results. Beliefs + Thoughts + Actions = Results So, how do we change beliefs that are not serving us? First, we need to know what those negative beliefs are, we need to do a little digging to encourage our subconscious to let us in on that little secret. - Mind Lab: Change Your Thoughts to Change Your Mindset
*This is an unedited excerpt from my upcoming book, ThinkIT: The Mind Lab. How to Change Thoughts to Change Mindset. Thoughts + Action = Results What I’m about to teach you is not rocket science. It’s not positive thinking. It’s not New Age feel good fluff, or a cool slogan like mindset is everything, on a yoga shirt. This is common sense. You’re about to learn a logical process for training your thoughts to start getting what you want and stop getting what you don’t. In other words, this is HOW you change your mindset. I call it brain training, and you’re about to create your very own Mind Lab. Just like every other muscle in your body, your brain needs training and regular workouts to stay on track and deliver peak performance. But most people are like I was in 2007, with no idea how to control all the conscious and subconscious unhelpful voices in their head. Yes, we all have them, layers and layers of voices telling us all kinds of crazy bs that isn’t true or beneficial to our mental or physical wellbeing. They say humans have on average 60,000-80,000 thoughts a day, that’s a lot of internal voices trying to tell us what to do, what to believe, who to be angry at and why, what to be worried about, how to feel about ourselves etc. It’s a lot. Even though our brain is a muscle that needs to be worked, shaped, and toned to get desired results, most of us were never taught how to do this. There was PE (physical education) when I was in school, but no ME (mental education), and most of our parents didn’t teach us tools for controlling our thoughts either, so what’s a person to do? If our arms are flabby and we want them toned and buff, we know that going to the gym and lifting weights, or hiring a trainer, and/or changing our diet, will over time, likely result in our desired buff-ness. So, as a rule we know what to do about all the other muscles, how did the most important one get left out of our education? It’s not your fault, we didn’t know better, but moving forward we will. When first I started trying to learn how to change my thoughts well over a decade ago, I did what most people do… I went out and bought a few books. I started with the ones Oprah recommended (because she is my guru!), the Lousie Hay, Esther Hicks, Eckhart Tolle books on Law of Attraction and the power of our thoughts… and I quickly felt very mentally deficient. I could not understand a thing they were trying to say! To me it seemed like they talked in circles, or in a foreign language, my brain could not comprehend, or translate anything I read into practical application in my life. And no disrespect to any of those amazing thought leaders, they just didn’t speak my language and I needed the concepts broken down in a way I could understand. I quickly became frustrated because everyone was saying things like, just think positive! Or change your thoughts, change your life. Or positive vibes only. What even is that? The slogans and soundbite quotes were endless, but where was the HOW? I kept thinking, HOW do I think positive? Does it mean I just go around all day saying, “You’re fine. Everything’s fine.” Because that wasn’t working, it hadn’t solved any of my problems or changed how I felt. It was like putting a Band-Aid on a bullet wound, a surface solution at best. I wanted REAL answers, real solutions, I wanted to know exactly what to do and when, so that things in my life would begin to change. And so, I hacked the system. I figured out how our thoughts work on my own, by breaking down the process into simple incremental, tangible steps that anyone can understand and use to get results. I tested them, coached them, lived them, and tracked their results both for myself and with my clients. My goal has always been to keep this simple, applicable and results driven. Even a child can use these tools. I’ve taught all three of my children starting at a very young age, how to talk to themselves and how to change their thoughts as they’ve gotten older, and I’ve witnessed the power it has given them. And before your inner skeptic kicks in, let me say that I’m confident you’ve already used ThinkIT throughout your life to get things you’ve wanted in the past. Unknowingly of course, most people don’t understand the process they’ve unconsciously gone through to achieve a goal, or get a desired outcome, therefore they struggle to replicate it. But when we stop to analyze any past success, we will see that it always started with a thought, also known as an idea. Now you’ll have the formula, which you can cut and paste to get anything you want, or onto any thought you don’t want. Our thoughts are the genesis of all action, and action delivers results. They are continuously creating future outcomes, both good and bad, positive, and negative, the process is exactly the same either way. I realized long ago that my negative thoughts looked exactly like my reality. The correlation was impossible to ignore. Everything I’d been telling myself for years, kept happening again and again in real life, that of course, created my belief system. Don't Make a Vision Board, Make a #futureboard If you really want to motivate your team, company, event or group, don't waste your time making old-school vision boards. Instead, get serious about custom creating your DREAM FUTURE LIFE with #futureboards . It’s time to get serious about creating a custom blueprint for your DREAM FUTURE LIFE with the #futureboards method. Vision boards? They’re so 20 years ago! Gone are the days of wasting hours flipping through magazines, gathering random images that don’t mean anything to you, only to end up with a generic collage of dreams that don’t inspire you. We did that before we knew any better. But let’s get real did they really work? You may have manifested one or two things off an old-school vision board… but who has time for that? Traditional vision boards—those random collages of stuff we “think” we want—have been around for ages. I remember in 2004, when my boss had our sales team create what she called a “magazine goal board.” Guess what? It didn’t work. None of us manifested anything from those boards. Sure, the intentions were good, but the result was a whole lot of nothing. And if you think about it, how could they work? Whatever you cut out of a magazine is always random, it’s NOT your dreams. It doesn’t look exactly like what you want. It’s whatever a magazine editor decided to put in that issue. Sorry, but that’s far too random and unintentional for me! But a #futureboard changed my life forever. It started in 2008. That year, my world exploded. I found out my husband was having an affair. At the time, I had 13-month-old twin daughters and a 5-year-old son. We’d just lost our house to foreclosure, and filed for bankruptcy. It was a bombshell that destroyed everything I knew. It took me months to find a job, and when I did, I started with a salary barely enough to cover rent and daycare. I was starting from rock bottom in every area of my life, including my career, where I was stuck cold-calling from a tiny cubicle. Things felt so bleak that I created an alternate reality in my mind—one where I was successful, living my dream life, and showing my kids the world. And that was the beginning of my #futureboard. I didn’t have any expectations for it honestly, especially since I knew my old vision board had never worked. But when I made that first futureboard, something changed. I looked at it while making my sales calls, and it filled me with hope. It sparked a burning desire within me to make the life in those pictures, my future reality. Within 18 months, that #futureboard began coming to life. I went from a newly single mom on food stamps struggling to stay afloat, to a big promotion where I tripled my salary, started traveling, and living some of my wildest dreams. Since then I’ve manifested over a dozen futureboards and created a life I had once only fantasized about. It has truly changed my life. You can read more about my story here.
